Founding of Japanese Baptist Church by Rev. E. H. Jones and Rev. Minosuke Ito.
Rev Haruye Y. Shibata accepts the call to be the first pastor.
The church building is completed and dedicated at 2nd and Evergreen in Boyle Heights.
Rev. Paul Yorishige Watanabe becomes pastor.
Rev. Kikusaburo Muraoka serves as interim pastor from June - November 1938. Rev. Tadao Yoshizaki continues as interim pastor from November 1938 through 1939.
The church establishes two separate congregations—English-speaking and Japanese-speaking all meeting, functioning as one church. Rev. Kuranosuke Tsuchiyama pastors the Japanese-speaking congregation.
Rev. Jitsuo Morikawa becomes English-speaking pastor.
Rev. Eric Kichitaro Yamamoto becomes pastor and serves until 1945.
The Committee on New Churches recommends that the Boyle Heights Japanese Mission is received into the association as a duly constituted Baptist church known as Los Angeles Japanese Baptist Church.
In May 1942, President Roosevelt signs Executive Order 9066, authorizing the forced removal and incarceration of over 125,000 Japanese Americans from the West Coast into inland concentration camps.
