At the Thales Alenia Space facilities in Cannes, France, the MTG-I2 satellite underwent a thermal vacuum test, which it passed with flying colours.
In a major milestone toward the launch of the MTG-I2 satellite, the system validation test (SVT) was completed on 9 February. The SVT is a critical step whereby teams verify that the satellite’s payloads seamlessly communicate with EUMETSAT’s routine mission control centre in Darmstadt.
MTG-I2 is undergoing final preparations in the clean room at Thales Alenia Space in Cannes, France, before being packed up ready to be shipped to to the launch facility in Kourou.
MTG-I2 is packed into its specialised transport container for the sea voyage to Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.
Satellite leaves Thales Alenia Space cleanrooms in Cannes, France by truck for the port of Nice, ready for its sea journey to the Americas.
The satellite is loaded onto a ship and leaves Nice in France for its cross Atlantic sea journey to Kourou, French Guiana, home of the Guiana Space Centre.
Following its long sea journey, the MTG-I2 satellite is unloaded from its transport ship in Port Pariacabo, Kourou. From here is it only a short drive to the launch site at the nearby Guiana Space Centre.
